# SOS next generation general availability

Today we're happy to announce general availability of our
next-generation object storage platform. The new API endpoint is
`sos-ch-dk-2.exo.io`.

This release is backwards-compatible with the previous one and brings
enhanced API coverage, better performance, and signature v4 support,
improving integration with many SDKs and tools out there.

The web portal has been switched to the new endpoint. If you have
existing buckets on the old platform, they won't appear anymore under
https://portal.exoscale.com/storage since they need to be migrated.

Migration instructions:

- If you have backup workloads, simply re-create your bucket(s) on the
  new platform and point your [backup tools](https://www.exoscale.com/backup/) to the new endpoint. Then
  let us know when you have enough history so that we can discard data
  on the old platform.
- For other workloads, we're happy to provide
  assistance with automatic data migration. Reach out to our support team
  for more information.

Note that the old platform will remain available until **March 31, 2018**.
